How to Join

Procedures for Applying for Membership

  1. New applicants are required to complete the VLTBC Membership Application Form.
  2. A non-refundable deposit cheque for $1,050.00 is required with the application form.
  3. Provide the application form to the Member of the Club that you have asked to be your "Proposer” for their signature. You must also choose a Member to be your "Seconder”. Please note that both the Proposer and the Seconder must be Playing Members of the Club.
  4. The Proposer must attach a reference letter explaining his/her relationship and/or knowledge of the applicant. Along with the Proposer, either the Seconder or one of the references is required to also include a reference letter.
  5. Two references are also required to sign the application form. References must be Members of the Club, and can be Social or Playing Members of the Club.
  6. It is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the completed application form, the letters of reference and the non-refundable deposit cheque to the Membership & Marketing Manager. If the application is not accepted, the deposit will be refunded.
  7. All applicants are subject to the Membership Wait List. There is no Club access during the Membership Wait List period.
  8. Applicants applying for a Playing Membership are then subject to the Playing Wait List Policy. An applicant’s name is not placed on the Playing Wait List until the Member Wait List period is over, the application process is complete, the entrance fee has been paid in full to the Club, or payment plan arrangements have been made with the Club. Placement on the Playing Wait List does not guarantee a Playing position will come available at any particular time. The Club is experiencing a lengthy Playing Wait List period.
Notes to the Proposer and Seconder
  1. In all matters pertaining to the nomination of new members, your first responsibility is to the Club and its members and not the applicant. The Proposer and Seconder should recognize that reputations are on the line by advocating a particular candidate for membership.
  2. It is required that the Proposer and Seconder are Playing Members of the Club.
  3. The letters should demonstrate a substantial personal knowledge of the candidate’s background. Letters indicating only a business or professional relationship will not be considered favourably by the Membership Committee.
  4. No Member shall propose or second more than two candidates in any twelve-month period, based on the date of submission of the application.
  5. Proposer, Seconder and References are encouraged to consult with the CEO, Membership & Marketing Manager or the Membership Chair, for any advice of the foregoing guidelines.

Please contact the Membership & Marketing Manager to request an application form.
