Courts

Over the years, many of the world's greatest players in badminton, tennis and squash have played on our courts. Today, the Club continues the tradition of being the home Club for many top ranked players in each sport.

The Club hosts a variety of Club tournaments and is a sought-after location for open National and Provincial tournaments in each of the racquet sports.

We offer athletic activities for all ages and abilities through a variety of both competitive and social programs: in-house leagues, clinics, city leagues, summer kids camps, private and semi private coaching, Junior programs and tournament play.

There is court time available for all sports and an appropriate balance between organized programs and open court play.

Tennis
The Club has 16 championship tennis courts in two types of surfaces. These courts have played host to many championship games. With four clay courts, eight hard courts (half of these are under cover in the winter months) and four hard court indoor courts, we're open for tennis year-round. Club members choose the level and intensity of their play, from competitive tournaments to light-hearted weekend mixers, the Junior Tennis Academy, tennis camps, to a variety of lesson types coached by professional instructors. The Club offers an extensive tennis program!

Badminton
Originally built in 1928, our specially designed Badminton Hall was the first of its kind in Canada. Today, six courts under a soaring arched roof play host to first timers and champions alike. Our badminton programs cater to every age and ability under the expert tutelage of the Club's head badminton professional, Ram Nayyar, encouraging the development of strokes and court fitness with game tactics and strategies. Van Lawn badminton players compete in Junior & Senior Tournaments at the local, provincial, national and international levels. Morning and evening badminton mixers and the leagues round out the calendar for badminton at the Club.

Squash
With 3 singles and 1 doubles court, the VLTBC is a fantastic venue for squash players. The Club offers programs for all levels of play from the social to competitive player. Members can enjoy the following: online squash ladder, in-house leagues and tournaments, private and group instruction from our capable & enthusiastic Pro. We also have an excellent grassroots Junior program for developing young players. There is definitely no shortage of squash activities for all ages and abilities.

Why play squash?
  1. Great workout: helps to improve aerobic capacity, balance and coordination.
  2. Good for the brain: Squash is like chess – you’ve got to be able to outsmart your opponent.
  3. Social: It’s a great way to meet people and form friendships.
  4. Cross training: Whether you are a jogger, tennis or badminton player, squash can help improve your skills.

Squash for Kids
Tennis, badminton & squash are great for developing eye-hand coordination, speed and balance. However squash offers an advantage. Kids can practice by themselves because the ball keeps coming back. Also, because they are in a contained area, more time is spent hitting balls than picking them up. Repeated ball striking will aid in the improvement of all racquet sports.
