Squash

With 3 singles and 1 doubles court, the VLTBC is a fantastic venue for squash players. The Club offers programs for all levels of play from the social to competitive player: online squash ladder, in-house leagues and tournaments, drop-ins, private and group instruction from our professional, Melanie Jans; four-time national champion and NCCP Level III with over 17 years of teaching experience. We also have an excellent grassroots Junior program for developing young players. There is definitely no shortage of squash activities for all ages and abilities.

The advantage of squash:

Tennis, badminton & squash are great for developing eye-hand coordination, speed and balance. However squash offers an advantage. People can practice by themselves because the ball keeps coming back. For junior programs, because the kids are in a contained area, more time is spent hitting balls than picking them up. Repeated ball striking will aid in the quicker improvement of all racquet sports. For programs, please check the Program Guide.

A member comments:
"Squash is a highly social sport at the Club. It is widely known that of all members in the Club, the squash players have the most fun on the court and in the pub! A squash match just isn't complete unless it is followed by a bite to eat and a glass of beer.

Doubles Squash has been a tradition at the Club since 1961. The Vancouver Lawn has participated in the City Doubles League for 16 years running and has produced Provincial and National Champions. Doubles is a great sport because of its accessibility to all, young and old."
